Gross Power
The power output of an engine measured without power-consuming accessories such as the fan and alternator installed.
Definition
Gross power is measured under standardized test conditions (for example, SAE J1995) with the engine in a bare configuration. It is generally higher than net power, which reflects power actually available once accessories are running.
