Tipping Load

The load at which a machine's weight distribution reaches the point of tipping forward, used as the basis for calculating rated operating capacity.

Definition

Tipping load is determined with the machine on a level, hard surface, load centered and raised to a specified height. Manufacturers apply a safety factor to tipping load to arrive at the published rated operating capacity, so tipping load itself is always higher than the machine's rated capacity.
