What happened

Volvo Construction Equipment announced its planned display for Steinexpo 2026, scheduled for September 2-5 in Nieder-Ofleiden, Germany. The company will use a 1,600-square-meter stand and a demonstration area to present machines for raw-material extraction, loading, hauling and site support.

Machines in the static display

The announced static lineup includes the R60 rigid hauler, the new EC560 crawler excavator and an L260 wheel loader configured as a heavy-duty rehandler. A Volvo FH semitrailer from Volvo Trucks will also be shown, reinforcing the connection between extraction equipment and material transport beyond the working face.

Electric equipment at a quarry event

Volvo plans to display the L120 Electric wheel loader, A40 Electric articulated hauler and EWR150 Electric wheeled excavator. Quarry and mining environments are demanding test cases for electrification because machines operate under high load, often over long shifts and in locations where charging infrastructure must be carefully planned. Showing electric machines beside conventional equipment allows customers to compare application fit rather than treating electrification as a separate category.

Live demonstration machines

The demonstration area is expected to feature the L350H wheel loader with long boom, the A50 articulated hauler and the EC750E crawler excavator. Live demonstrations are useful because cycle behavior, visibility, sound, stability and machine interaction are difficult to judge from specification tables. However, buyers should remember that exhibition demonstrations are controlled and may not represent every material, gradient or production target.

Efficiency, safety and profitability

Volvo’s theme for the event focuses on efficiency, safety and profitability. These goals are connected: a machine that moves more tonnes per hour but creates high tire wear, fuel consumption or downtime may not deliver the lowest cost per tonne. Likewise, safety systems must support rather than complicate normal operation. Quarry managers increasingly evaluate machines as part of a complete production system that includes loading compatibility, haul-road conditions, operator skill and digital monitoring.

Digital services and site solutions

The announcement also emphasizes digital services. Telematics, payload information, production monitoring and maintenance planning can help identify idle time, bottlenecks and inconsistent operation. The value of these tools depends on data quality and whether site teams have the processes to use the information. A dashboard alone does not improve production; improvement occurs when data leads to specific operational changes.

What visitors should compare

Visitors evaluating machines should compare payload match, bucket and body sizing, cycle time, fuel or energy use, operator visibility, tire or undercarriage life, service access and dealer support. For electric equipment, the analysis should include charging power, energy use per shift, infrastructure cost, battery operating window and contingency plans.

What to watch next

The most useful information will come from detailed demonstrations, customer applications and published performance data during and after Steinexpo. The event will also show whether electric quarry equipment is moving from isolated trials toward integrated multi-machine workflows.
