Load Center
The horizontal distance from the vertical face of a forklift's forks to the center of gravity of the load being carried.
Definition
Load center is a standard reference point (commonly 24 inches / 610 mm in North America) used to rate a forklift's lift capacity. A load with its center of gravity further from the forks than the rated load center reduces the safe lifting capacity below the nameplate rating.
