Rated Operating Capacity
The maximum load a machine can safely lift or carry, as rated by the manufacturer under a defined stability test with a safety margin.
Definition
Rated operating capacity is typically calculated as a fraction of tipping load (for example, 50% for wheeled skid steers and wheel loaders, or 35% for tracked loaders under some standards) to leave a stability margin. It is not the same as the absolute maximum a machine can lift before tipping — that figure is the tipping load itself.
