Many telehandlers are fitted with stabilisers (outriggers) that extend from the chassis to increase the support base. When deployed they significantly raise the rated capacity, especially at longer reach. Stabilisers must be placed on firm, level ground or suitable pads. Some machines have frame-levelling systems that tilt the chassis to keep the boom vertical on mild slopes. Never lift with stabilisers only partially extended unless the load chart specifically allows it. On machines without stabilisers, capacity is limited to the on-tyres chart and the machine must remain more level.
Always consult the specific manufacturer operator manual and load charts for the model in use. Local regulations regarding personnel lifting, operator training and machine inspection must also be followed. Proper selection, correct use of the load chart, and disciplined daily checks form the foundation of safe and productive telehandler operation.
